Organic Mizuna Seeds for Microgreens

Organic Mizuna seeds grow into beautiful Microgreens. They are dark violet with few green speciments in the bag. This crate a lovely color variation for your green dishes. You can grow them in your own kitchen all year.
The seeds have the Latin name of Brassica juncea var. japonica This Mustard variety is also called Spider mustard or Konya.

Vitamins and minerals in Mizuna

Organic Mizuna Microgreens contain the vitamins A, B, C, E, K and the minerals Potassium, Iron, Calcium, Magnesium, Zinc, Phosphorus.

Fragile Mizuna plants

Mizuna is a small and fragile plant especially as sprouts. Therefore I recommend, that you rinse them with great care. This is because the plants will rot if they break during your culitivation. To prevent this you can put a Faucet Aerator on your tap. This will allow you to make the water jets very soft. See the Faucet Aerator >

Taste and use in food

Mizuna has a lovely taste of pepper and Mustard mixed together. This makes Mizuna a wonderful addition in both salad, sandwiches, wraps and dips. I personally do not find Mizuna suitable for smoothies but many use them for the popular Buddha bowls as the plants are very beautiful.

Cultivation time of organic Mizuna seeds for Microgreens

You can grow your organic Mizuna seeds into either sprouts or microgreens. If your kitchen temperature is 18-23 ° C / 64-73 ° F, your Mizuna sprouts should be ready for harvest after 6 days of cultivation. At the same temperature, they should have grown to mature microgreens after a total of 12 days.

Cultivation device for Mizuna microgreens

As Mizuna is a gelling – mucilaginous – seed, they need to grow on a special substrate. Because of this a Hemp mat or Organic Cotton Woll is needed under the seeds. The substrate is needed to grow both Mizuna sprouts and microgreens. See Hemp mat.

Microgreens need light and fertilizer

If you grow Mizuna Microgreens, then the plants need artificial light and extra fertilizer from day 7 of the cultivation. Under MICRO KIT you can find descriptions about the right amount of light and fertilizer for Microgreens when you use each product. Visit Micro Kit.

CHOOSE SPROUTING SEEDS

You can often buy Mizuna seeds for garden cultivation.

But non-organic garden seeds are often sprayed with anti-fungi to help them withstand the natural fungi and bacteria in soil.

However, anti-fungi will give you a stomach ache, so always only buy certified sprouting seeds for your sprouts and microgreens cultivation.
