Organic Cress Seeds for Microgreens

Organic Cress seeds for Microgreens is an easy plant, that you will have much joy of growing yourself as it is very easy. The seeds have the Latin name of Lepidium sativum. Cress is also called Pepperwort or Tower mustard.

Vitamins and minerals in Cress

Organic Cress Microgreens are very nutrient rich. They contain the vitamins: B1, B3, B6, E and the minerals Iron, Calcium, Magnesium, Manganese, Phosphorus, Zinc, Selenium.

Moisture for Cress

Even though Cress seeds form gel they still must not dry out during your cultivation. If they dry out, the seeds and/or plants will wither. So keep the cotton woll or hemp mat constantly moist durling the whole cultivation. Fortunately this is very easy as you can simply give the fabric or grow mat under the seeds a little water morning and evening. Then your plants will grow well for you.

Taste and use in food

Your home-grown Cress microgreens have a nicely round taste of cress. The taste is milder in the bigger microgreens than in the small sprouts. This is nice if you find the traditional cress taste a little too much. I personally enjoy cress in any size as spicy topping in salad, sandwiches, wraps and dips.

Cultivation time of organic Cress seeds for Microgreens

You can grow your organic Cress seeds into either sprouts or microgreens. If your kitchen temperature is 18-23 ° C / 64-73 ° F, your Cress sprouts should be ready for harvest after 6 days of cultivation. As Cress is a gelling – mucilaginous – seed, they need to grow on a special substrate. Because of this a Hemp mat or Organic Cotton Woll is needed under the seeds. The substrate is needed to grow both Cress sprouts and microgreens. See Hemp mat.

Organic Beet Seeds for Microgreens

Organic Beet seeds are easy to grow into Microgreens in your kitchen all year. They have the Latin name Beta vulgaris conditiva. Beet is also called: Red beet, Beetroot or Sugar-beet.

Vitamins and minerals in Beet

Beet Microgreens is the most nutritious sprout and microgreen you can find. They contain the vitamins: A, B6, B9, C and the minerals Iron, Magnesium, Calcium, Potassium, Sodium.

Beet is a slow sprout

Beet is very slow to get started. I may take as much as 7 days until the seeds open and let our the first little sign of purple life. Because of this many give up on the sprouts. To make sure you get a result, the trick is to make sure, the seeds do not dry out during cultivation – even if the twice daily rinsing seem useless. But it is veru important that you keep the seeds wet. If they dry out, they wither and will never grow. So just keep rinsing, keep the seeds from drying out and you will get your besutiful plants.

Taste and use in food

Beet is a very beautiful plant both as sprout and as the bigger microgreen. As the plants have an after taste of red beet, I personally prefer to use them in green dishes where red beet would be natural. That would be in sandwiches, green salads and wraps. But you can also use these very beautiful plants as decoration on cake, ice cream or other desserts.

Cultivation time of organic Beet seeds for Microgreens

You can grow your organic Beet seeds into either sprouts or microgreens. If your kitchen temperature is 18-23 ° C / 64-73 ° F, your Beet sprouts should be ready for harvest after 10 days of cultivation. At the same temperature, they should have grown to mature microgreens after a total of 20 days.

Cultivation device for Beet microgreens

Beet sprouts can grow in any sprouting device that can keep the seeds wet enough to sprout. The bigger Beet Microgreens will, however, give the best result in a SproutPearl sprouter or a Hemp mat. This is because these two methods let the plants get plenty of room to grow and ensure enough ventilation around the plant tops.

Vitamins and minerals in Crimson clover

Crimson clover Microgreens are very nutritious on minerals. They contain the vitamins: A, B3, C, K and the minerals Potassium, Iron, Calcium, Copper, Magnesium, Zinc, Phosphorus, Manganese.

Thin roots on clover

Crimson clover is thicker and more sturdy than Red clover. It is still a good idea to rinse your clover with care to make sure, the plants do not break. I recommend that you either rinse with a thin water stream or put an Faucet Aerator on your water tap. Both will ease the water jet and ease the pressure on these fragile sprouts. As they grow larger or into microgreens, they will be strong enough to withstand more water pressure.

Taste and use in food

Your home-grown microgreens of Crimson clover have a lovely taste like the inner parts of iceberg salad. This goes for both sprouts and microgreens. The mild lettuce taste makes these plants very easy to use in any dish where you feel the need for a substitute for traditional green salad leaves. I especially like to use them in sandwiches, green salads, dips and wraps. But they also go very well as an extra filling in smoothies or juices.

Organic Pea Seeds for Pea shoots

These Organic Peas seeds are easy to grow into Microgreens in your own kitchen all year. This variety of seeds have the Latin name Pisum sativum.

Vitamins and minerals in Pea shoots

Pea shoots are very nutritious on vitamins and natural protein. They contain the vitamins: A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9, C and the minerals Calcium, Iron, Phosphorus.

How to get crisp pea shoots

To get the most crisp pea shoots, you need to harvest the shoots when they are just 10-15 cm long. If they grow bigger than that, they slowly become more chewy.
Another important trick is to make sure the shoots are moist enough during cultivation as dried out shoots go bitter.

Taste and use in food

Your home-grown Pea shoots are popular and delicious as a substitute for traditional green salad leaves. However, you will notice that they are not easy to chew as salad. Therefore I recomment that you cut them to bite size if you use them in wraps or sandwiches. That makes it a more elegant experience to eat them. Many also choose to juice pea shoots as this is a part of the long rawfood tradition to get more of the nutrients from these plants.

Cultivation time of organic Peas for pea shoots

You can grow your organic Peas into either sprouts or microgreen shoots. If your kitchen temperature is 18-23 ° C / 64-73 ° F, your Pea sprouts should be ready for harvest after 2 days of cultivation. At the same temperature, they should have grown to mature pea shoots after a total of 14 days.

Pea shoots need light but no fertilizer

If you grow Pea shoots they do not need fertilizer as they absorb nitrogen from the air. But they will grow faster if you give them artificial light from the day they unfold their first set of leaves. This happens on day 4 or 5 of their growth.

You can find light bulbs under MICRO KIT. There you can also find a Pea shoot Kit with Sprouter and seeds for your easy start. See Pea Shopt Kit.

This variety of Fenugreek has the Latin name Trigonella foenum-graecum. Fenugreek is also called: Greek Clover, Greek Hay, Alholva, Bird’s Foot, Bockshornklee, Bockshornsame.

A scent of curry from Fenugreek

I recommend that you eat your Fenugreek at a time, when you do not have engagements the next day that make you to sweat. This is because Fenugreek seeds and young fenugreek sprouts can tend to make your body carry a scent of curry. This is no problem unless you prefer to be odourless on that special day.

Use in food

Fenugreek is a very unique plant in that you can eat it on many stages of the cultivation. As sprouted seeds with just a small root they have a very strong curry taste and scent. many use these in tea.

As a sprout with only the small set of leaves unfolded and green, their curry scent is almost gone but it is still there when you eat the plants. As microgreens your Fenugreek is a great salad substitution with just a hint of curry.

Because of the unique curry scent and taste, I like to use my Fenugreek plants in sandwiches, green salads and wraps. I do not enjoy them in smoothies or juices where I prefer the more neutral tasting Sunflower or the very neutral Alfalfa.

Organic Endive Seeds for Sprouts and Microgreens

Organic Endive seeds are easy to grow into Microgreens in your kitchen all year. They have the Latin name Cichorium endivia. Endive is also called: Chicory or Escarole.

Vitamins and minerals in Endive

Endive Microgreens is the most nutritious sprout and microgreen you can find. They contain the vitamins: A, B1, B3, B5, B6, B9, C, E, K and the mineralers Potassium, Iron, Calcium, Copper, Zinc, Magnesium, Phosphorus, Selenium, Sodium.

Endive form small plants

Endive may seem to be too small to bother as it is the smallest sprout and microgreen in stock. But what it lacks in size it makes up for in taste and charm. Endive is even more tasty and has the same lovely bitterness that you may know from the fully grown salad.
You can eat the whole plant, but the chewy seed husks are not very tasty and should be rinsed of before you eat the plants.

Taste and use in food

Endive is a small but very nutritious and tasty plant. It is bitter like the fully grown salad. If you wish it to be less bitter, you can place the plants in a lighter spot. Just not in direct sun as that is too hot for the fragile plants. A solution is to place the plants under a grow light bulb for up to 16 hours the last two days before harvest.

I find that the bitterness of these salad plants go especially well with dips or as flavor enhancer in sandwiches, green salads and wraps.

Cultivation time of organic Endive seeds for Microgreens

You can grow your organic Endive seeds into either sprouts or microgreens. If your kitchen temperature is 18-23 ° C / 64-73 ° F, your Endive sprouts should be ready for harvest after 6-7 days of cultivation. At the same temperature, they should have grown to mature microgreens after a total of 12-14 days.

Cultivation device for Endive microgreens

Endive sprouts can grow in any sprouting device. The bigger Endive Microgreens will, however, give the best result in a SproutPearl sprouter or a Hemp mat. This is because these two methods let the plants get plenty of room to grow and ventilation around the plant tops.
