Organic Rucola Seeds for Microgreens
Organic Rucola seeds for Microgreens is an easy plant, that you will have much joy of growing in your kitchen. The seeds have the Latin name of Eruca vesicaria sativa. Rucola is also called Arugula, Rugula and Roquette.

Your home-grown Organic Rucola Microgreens contain the vitamins: A, B3, C, E, K and the minerals Potassium, Iron, Calcium, Magnesium, Phosphorus.
Gelling seeds
Rucola – Arugula – need to grow on cotton woll or hemp mats as these seeds are mucilaginous. That means they form gel when the seeds get wet. Because of theis the seeds will not thrive in a sprouter like a SproutJar or a SproutPearl.
Whether you choose to grow the plants on cotton woll or hemp is less important. However, it is important, that you choose 100% organic quality. This way your plants do not absorb unwanted substances from the substrate, but will grow well and healthy for your benefit.
Taste and use in food
You will notice that your Rucola microgreens get a milder taste the longer they grow. Therefore the sprouts are milder than the microgreens. If you give the microgreens light too, the taste become more round.
You may use the Rucola in any dish or dip, where you would other wise use the salad. That would be in salad, sandwiches, wraps and dips. Some use them in vegetable smoothies too.
Cultivation time of organic Rucola seeds for Microgreens
You can grow your organic Rucola seeds into either sprouts or microgreens. If your kitchen temperature is 18-23 ° C / 64-73 ° F, your Rucola sprouts should be ready for harvest after 6 days of cultivation. At the same temperature, they should have grown to mature microgreens after a total of 12 days.
Cultivation device for Rucola microgreens
As Rucola is a gelling – mucilaginous – seed, they need to grow on a special substrate. Because of this a Hemp mat or Organic Cotton Woll is needed under the seeds. The substrate is needed to grow both Rucola sprouts and microgreens. See Hemp mat.
Microgreens need light and fertilizer
