MICROGREEN FERTILIZER SPRAY BOTTLE
Microgreen fertilizer spray bottle to spray liquid fertilizer on microgreen plants. This spray bottle makes it easy for you to mix the fertilizer with water and and spray it on your microgreens.
Your indoor, home-grown microgreens need extra nutrients from day 8 of their growth. This is because microgreens are cultivated from seeds, that contain nutrients to sustain the plants untill day 7 of their growth. After day 7 and forward, your plants need to take in nutrients from their surroundings.
In nature the plants take in nutrients from soil at that stage. But when you grow aeroponic microgreens for example in a SproutPearl – then you need to add fertilizer via the water from day 8. This is easily done with this fertilizer spray bottle.
HOW CAN YOU SEE IT IS TIME TO FERTILIZE MICROGREENS?
I write that you need to fertilize your micro plants from day 7 and untill you harvest your mature microgreens. But there is an even more precise way to tell when you need to fertilize. The time for you to start using the fertiliser is when you can see little new leaves form between the the small cotyledons or embryonic leaves. This stage is often reached around day 6-7 of growth. But if you live in a warm, sunny climate, then this stage may be reached faster for your plants.
So to sum up: If you only grow your plants into sprouts and harvest after 2-7 days, then you do not need to fertilize the plants. This is because the plants live of the nutrients in the seed at that young stage.
But if you wish to cultivate the sprouts past their sprout stage and onward to the microgreen stage, then you need to give the plants nutrients to live on. If you do not, the plants will first loose their color and taste and soon after wither and die.
Ergo you need to fertilize your plants as they start to develop their first set of true leaves between the small sprout cotyledons or embryonic leaf set.

Notes to remember:
You only need to spray a few times with the fertilizer mixture so that all the roots have a small layer of nutritious dew in them.

STORE MICROGREEN FERTILIZER IN THE DARK
Even if you only mix a little fertilizer solution at a time, it is important that you keep the spray bottle with the fertilizer dark. Darkness partly gives a longer shelf life on the fertilizer and partly the darkness prevents the formation of algae in the manure mixture.
For the same reason, you should wash the spray bottle well with dishwashing detergent if you do not use the fertilizer within 2 weeks. once a week. To keep an extra high hygiene, I also recommend that you wash it each time you mix new fertilizer in the bottle.
You do not have to worry about algae on your sprouts. Your plants absorb most of the fertilizer, you spray on the roots and excess fertilizer is rinsed off every night. In addition, I recommend that you empty the lower tray of the SproutPearl every day and wash it. This will let the roots of your microgreens breathe and stay healthy.
