CARDBOARD BOXES

I agree to reuse cardboard boxes if it works for all parties.

So I made a deal with health costs near my store: They give me their cardboard boxes when I come by anyway and deliver seeds.

Their advantage is that they get rid of the cardboard boxes. My advantage is that I can help the environment. Good enough on a small scale, but many streams small…

So if your box looks worn or has a product brand from another brand, you can rejoice that the box is 100% recyclable.

I also use new cardboard boxes. They are made from 90-100% recycled cardboard. Danish produced and purchased by Danish suppliers.

TAPE AND WHITE FOAMS NUTS

Foams in the boxes do not fit the green profile of a sprout company. I agree, but as with the cardboard boxes, I get a lot of these foam nuts from the health food stores. Therefore sometimes they are made of flamingo. Other times they are made from cornstarch.

So you can take pleasure in knowing that my reuse of the foams protects the environment a bit. I bring the foams to my ware house on bike as I return from delivering sprouting seeds to the near by health food stores. My choice takes a little more time, but I do this with pleasure.

By the way, you can tell if the nuts are made from cornstarch as these ones dissolve in water. If they are of corn starch,they are 100% biodegradable.

My tape is often of made from brown paper, but sometimes the package also requires a little tape of PP to stay together.

SPROUT PEARL

A quick word about the SproutPearl. I have designed this sprout tray myself and have therefore been able to make several environmentally friendly choices in the production.

The first is that I have chosen a plastic type that is free of BPA, phthalates and colours.

The Pearl is produced in Denmark by a Danish manufacturer just 30 kilometers from my warehouse. This short transport saves CO2.

Furthermore, the sprouter is shock-resistant, so it should last for many years. If a tray breaks before I deliver it to a customer, I can return it to the manufacturer, who makes new trays from it.

That is why the SproutPearl is environmentally friendly even though it is plastic.
