These Organic Sunflower seeds are easy to grow into Microgreens in your own kitchen all year. This variety of seeds have the Latin name Helianthus Annuus.
Vitamins and minerals in Sunflower
Sunflower Microgreens are very nutritious on minerals. They contain the vitamins: A, B1, B2, B3, B5, B6, B9, E and the minerals Iron, Calcium, Phosphorus, Selenium, Magnesium, Zinc, Copper, Manganese.
Taste and use in food
Your home-grown microgreens of Sunflower is almost neutral in taste but with a hint of sunflower seeds. This goes for both sprouts and microgreens. This makes the plants very easy to use in any dish where you feel the need for a substitute for traditional green salad leaves. I especially like to use them in sandwiches, green salads and wraps.
Many also choose to juice their Sunflower sprouts or microgreens as this is a part of the long rawfood tradition to get more of the nutrients from these plants.
Cultivation time of organic Sunflower seeds for Microgreens
You can grow your organic Sunflower seeds into either sprouts or microgreens. If your kitchen temperature is 18-23 ° C / 64-73 ° F, your Sunflower sprouts should be ready for harvest after 7 days of cultivation. At the same temperature, they should have grown to mature microgreens after a total of 14 days.
Cultivation device for Sunflower microgreens
Sunflower sprouts can grow in any sprouting device. The longer Sunflower Microgreens will, however, give the best result in a SproutPearl sprouter or a Hemp mat. This is because these two methods let the plants get plenty of room to grow and ventilation around the plant tops.
See SproutPearl sprouter or See Hemp mat.
